22nd International Meeting of the Pediatric Colorectal Club 2015
June 13, 2015 - June 15, 2015
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is a great pleasure for us to invite you to the 22nd International Meeting of the Paediatric Colorectal Club, which will take place at the Salone Pio XII, Università degli Studi di Milano, Milan, from the 13th to the 15th of June 2015.
Paediatric colorectal malformations and diseases represent a special challenge to paediatric medical and surgical doctors and nurses, due to the severity of most of the conditions and to the major impact on quality of life they can have. Specialists dealing with pathologies like anorectal malformations, Hirschsprung’s disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, constipation and fecal incontinence have to provide the best medical and surgical care to their patients, offering them the highest possible standards of treatment. This is why the 22nd International Meeting of the Paediatric Colorectal Club aims to provide up to date clinical and scientific information on all aspects of paediatric colorectal disease to practicing pediatric surgeons, nurses and parents’ Associations. Together with the Faculty, the organizing committee inserted a new moment for the meeting with 2 sessions of case presentations (one on Hirschsprung’s disease and one on anorectal malformations) that we are sure will stimulate the discussion and the interactive participation of the Delegates.
Milan, founded at the beginning of the VI century and conquered in 222 BC by the Romanian who named it Mediolanum, is the centre of the third most populous metropolitan area in Europe after London and Paris. It is the major financial market in Italy as well as the most relevant centre for publishing industry and manufacturing, one of the world’s capitals of fashion and design and one of the most important Italian university poles. The “Fiera of Milan”, the major exhibition complex in Europe, will host EXPO 2015 from May to November, attracting millions of tourists end exhibitors from all over the world.
Most of the artistic and architectural heritage of Milan is located in the historical centre. Symbol of the city is the Santa Maria Nascente Gothic Cathedral, better known as Duomo di Milano, located in Piazza Duomo (Duomo Square), centre of the city economic and cultural life. Close to it is the eighteenth century Teatro alla Scala, one of the most famous lyric theatres in the world. Among the other monuments are noteworthy the Santa Maria delle Grazie Church and the Cenacolo Leonardesco (Last Supper), declared UNESCO World Heritage Site; the numerous museums and art galleries, the most famous of which is the Pinacoteca di Brera.
The city area is also provided with three major urban historical parks and the metropolitan area is well-equipped with three international airports and many crucial national and international road and railway connections.
We sincerely hope you will be able to join us in Milan for the 22nd International Meeting of the Paediatric Colorectal Club and enjoy the numerous attractions and facilities the city offers.
